Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including documentation review and updates within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and practicing aseptic techniques consistently. Skills Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific care approaches for young patients. Skilled in chairside assisting with a focus on infection control, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile environment. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and recognize abnormal findings that may require further medical assessment. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures, medical imaging techniques, and medical terminology relevant to dental practice.
