Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology, with experience in various specialties including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry. This role involves providing chairside assistance to the dentist, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a sterile environment in compliance with infection control protocols. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment room, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use. Take dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols. Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Open Dental Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Manage dental clinic operations including scheduling appointments and handling medical documentation. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data protection. This position includes working with special needs children Assist in infection control practices by adhering to aseptic techniques and cleaning protocols. Qualifications Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems, particularly Open Dental, is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus. Experience with medical coding and documentation will be beneficial. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining patient comfort. Strong communication skills to interact with patients and team members professionally. Understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques is required.
