Job Purpose: - The Dental Assistant - Trained at INTERCARE COMMUNITY HEALTH NETWORK is responsible for providing essential support to dental professionals, ensuring the efficient operation of dental services. The role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining a sterile environment, and facilitating effective communication between the dental team and patients. Key Responsibilities: Assist dentists during dental procedures by preparing and organizing instruments and materials. - Ensure patient comfort and provide pre- and post-operative instructions. Maintain a sterile and clean working environment in accordance with infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) and assist in the management of dental emergencies. Record patient medical and dental histories and update records as necessary. Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow within the clinic. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Order and maintain dental supplies and equipment inventory. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a high standard of patient care and service delivery. Perform other administrative and clinical duties as required to support the dental team. Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of an accredited dental assistant training program is preferred. Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a dental assistant in a clinical setting. Experience working with diverse patient populations is advantageous. Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records is preferred. Required Skills and Abilities: Proficient in dental procedures, including taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays). Strong understanding of dental terminology and instruments. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate patient care and manage patient concerns. Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
