Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures. Assist during various dental treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and holistic therapies by providing chairside support. Take and develop dental X-rays and utilize advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring all patient information complies with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and security. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Educate patients on oral health practices, holistic approaches to dentistry, and post-treatment care instructions. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, updating medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims or billing purposes related to dental procedures. Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners with proficiency. Collaborate with the dental team to uphold high standards of anatomy knowledge, dental terminology, and clinical best practices across all specialties including pediatrics when necessary. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting with knowledge of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or holistic practices preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and data security. Proficiency in taking X-rays, operating dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners, and performing intraoral imaging procedures. Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and monitor patient comfort during treatments. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about oral health in a holistic context while supporting the dental team seamlessly. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently within a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in medical records and documentation. Certification in Dental Assisting (CDA) or equivalent preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or holistic health are advantageous.
