Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Dental Office Assistant to join our busy pediatric dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative and clinical support, ensuring smooth daily operations. This role involves managing patient interactions, handling medical and dental documentation, and utilizing various electronic health record (EHR) systems. The Dental Office Assistant will play a vital part in maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and delivering excellent patient service in a fast-paced environment. Duties Greet patients and manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance coverage. Perform insurance verification and process claims using systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic, and Athenahealth. Collect payments and assist with medical billing, coding (ICD-10, CPT), and documentation review to ensure accuracy. Maintain patient records within EMR/EHR systems like eClinicalWorks, Meditech, and other health information management platforms. Assist with patient intake procedures, including data entry, medical history updates, and documentation review. Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and handle patient inquiries efficiently. Support clinical staff with dental terminology, care plans, and documentation related to dental procedures. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality. Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing medical records. Support office management activities including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and front desk operations. Qualifications Prior experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred; clinic or hospital experience is advantageous. Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks is essential. Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT) and billing procedures related to Medicare and insurance claims processing. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and multi-line phone system operation. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks.
