Job Summary We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. The Dental Receptionist will ensure a smooth patient experience while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and office policies. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing exceptional patient service at the front desk Schedule appointments using the dental practice management software, Dentrix Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently Collect payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances; handle medical collections when necessary Review documentation for accuracy and completeness Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette Handle incoming calls, appointment confirmations, and patient inquiries Maintain organized filing of medical records and other administrative documents Support office management tasks including data entry, filing, and correspondence Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy standards in all aspects of patient information handling Skills Proficiency with the dental software Dentrix Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and insurance billing procedures Experience with health information management and medical office management practices Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing (including 10-key typing) Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor and phone etiquette Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, and record keeping This position offers an opportunity to be an integral part of a dedicated dental team committed to providing outstanding patient care.
