Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team. Experience with EMR systems and a solid knowledge of dental terminology are essential to ensure accurate documentation and patient records management. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to promote oral health. Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Conduct patient assessments, including medical history review and documentation review for treatment planning. Operate medical imaging equipment to capture intraoral images as needed. Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Manage medical records accurately in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with chairside assisting duties, including preparing instruments and materials for procedures. Support pediatric dentistry cases when applicable, demonstrating knowledge of pediatric dental needs. Ensure proper documentation review and accurate medical coding for billing purposes. Uphold all standards of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control throughout daily operations. Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry preferred; dental office or clinic experience is highly desirable. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is required. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health. Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques in a clinical setting. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively within a fast-paced environment. Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities. Knowledge of medical imaging techniques and vital signs assessment is advantageous. Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance and handle sensitive patient information responsibly.
