Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a professional demeanor, and a strong background in dental administrative support within dental or healthcare settings. As a Dental Receptionist, you will manage patient interactions, coordinate appointments, handle insurance verification, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Your role is vital in delivering exceptional patient service while maintaining accurate records and supporting the clinical team. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk. Schedule patient appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Dentrix. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including collecting payments and updating medical records. Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards. Perform insurance verification, claims submission, and follow-up to facilitate timely reimbursements. Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and dental charts while ensuring confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills. Support clinic operations through administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, typing (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies. Assist with intake procedures for new patients and coordinate care plans alongside clinical staff. Utilize computer skills to operate dental software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft), Microsoft Office applications, and other relevant platforms effectively. Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating with dental professionals and administrative staff to optimize workflow. Skills Proven experience in medical or dental office administration with familiarity in clinic experience or healthcare environments. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft. Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid claims processing. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record management. Exceptional customer service abilities paired with professional phone etiquette and communication skills. Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance is essential. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with proficiency in clerical tasks such as filing and data entry. Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; knowledge of dental terminology enhances effectiveness in this role. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy under pressure.
