Permanent Dental Receptionist / Front Desk Job in Waukegan, IL
Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while maintaining proper radiation safety protocols. Record accurate medical and dental histories, vital signs, and other relevant patient information using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of medical documentation. Provide chairside assistance using aseptic techniques and proper infection control procedures. Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care. Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate with front desk staff to ensure smooth clinic operations. Assist with medical imaging procedures and understand dental terminology for effective communication within the team. Support infection control practices to maintain a sterile environment throughout the clinic. Collaborate with the team on special projects related to pediatrics or other specialized areas as needed. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential. Proficiency in Dentrix Ascend preferred. Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging, medical coding, and managing medical records is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques is mandatory. Background in pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus. Certification or training in dental assisting programs or related fields is highly valued.
