Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to empower them in maintaining healthy smiles. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification. Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with proficiency in dental terminology and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation management. Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and anatomy related to oral health. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, along with experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate seamlessly with team members.
