Registered Dental Hygienist - Horizon Dental Care - Prior Lake, MN

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform thorough dental cleanings, and assist in maintaining optimal oral health for patients of all ages. This role requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and patient assessment to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Experience with EMR systems and dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix is preferred. The Dental Hygienist will work closely with the dental team to deliver comprehensive dental services in a professional environment committed to excellence. Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, scaling, and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and record vital signs and medical history assessments for patients prior to treatment. Assist with patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions. Utilize dental imaging equipment for diagnostic purposes while maintaining proper infection control protocols. Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix. Support pediatric dentistry procedures with specialized techniques for children’s comfort and safety. Conduct chairside assisting during various dental procedures, including general dentistry treatments. Follow HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times. Maintain aseptic technique and infection control standards throughout all procedures. Review medical records and documentation to ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and coding standards such as medical coding requirements. Collaborate with dentists on patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation review to ensure comprehensive care. Requirements Valid Dental Hygiene license in the state of practice. Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency with dental software including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and EMR systems. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes. Experience with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, chairside assisting, and patient care procedures. Ability to work effectively within a team using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and medical coding protocols. Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach toward patient care.
