Responsibilities Assist dentists with complex restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, and pediatric procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture precise diagnostic images while adhering to infection control protocols. Manage electronic health records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take vital signs and medical histories to support comprehensive patient assessments, especially in pediatric dentistry cases. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment. Provide chairside assistance during procedures by managing dental terminology, medical documentation, and assisting with medical coding when necessary. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, infection control standards, and current best practices in general dentistry to deliver exceptional patient care. Requirements Valid RDAEF license with current certification to perform extended functions in dentistry. Proven experience in dental assisting within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality. Skilled in taking X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scanning techniques. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging procedures accurately. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working effectively with children is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with the clinical team and provide outstanding patient service.
