Duties Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status. Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring proper infection control and aseptic techniques are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term health. Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring documentation review for completeness. Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in dental office settings with strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry. Proficiency in using dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for charting, documentation review, and medical coding. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is highly desirable. Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while managing multiple patients in a fast-paced setting. Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, patient care principles, and medical imaging techniques.
