Duties Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, documenting medical history, treatment notes, and medical coding accurately. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients with special needs or medical conditions to ensure safety during procedures. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating patient information, and managing correspondence efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while following all HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for seamless documentation and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to communicate effectively within the dental team. Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry settings, including pediatric dentistry and complex procedures like prosthodontics or endodontics. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision and safety. Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination in the clinic environment. Excellent organizational skills to manage medical records, medical coding, and administrative tasks efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance with patient privacy laws at all times.
