Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and equipment for various dental procedures. Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by providing chairside support with tools, materials, and patient comfort. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment. Maintain accurate medical documentation, including medical records, dental terminology, and coding compliant with HIPAA regulations. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, verifying insurance information in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, and scheduling appointments. Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary, especially in pediatric dentistry or medical-dental integrated cases. Support the dental team with administrative tasks typical of a dental receptionist role while maintaining professionalism and efficiency. Uphold all safety standards related to anatomy knowledge, infection control, and HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality and health. Skills Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices relevant to dental procedures. Experience with chairside assisting techniques across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Knowledge of infection control procedures including aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination. Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools accurately. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times. Excellent communication skills suitable for working closely with pediatric patients and their families. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal patient care. Basic knowledge of anatomy relevant to oral health as well as understanding of medical documentation standards.
