Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will have prior expereince and possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient care and safety. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinical operations, supporting dentists & Hygienists during procedures, and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients. Responsibilities Assist dentists & hygienists during various procedures including orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments (requires ICE certificate) , setting up necessary equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control standards. Setting up and breaking up treatment trays. Take dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to safety protocols and proper positioning techniques. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems Dentrix for scheduling, billing, and documentation purposes. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment ensuring readiness for daily operations. Refill dental supplies needed for treatments. Uphold strict infection control protocols using proper aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy and dental coding to facilitate accurate communication and documentation. Qualifications Completed a Dental Assisting program and/or a recent grad, with prior experience working in a fast paced dental clinic setting (pediatric and/or orthodontic) is highly preferred. Proficiency in using EMR systems (Dentrix & Dexis). Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards related to medical documentation and patient privacy. Certification or training in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray certification, and infection control certification and practices. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Experience supporting pediatric or orthodontic dentistry cases with an understanding of pediatrics-specific protocols is desirable. Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities to foster teamwork within the clinic environment.
