DENTAL ASSISTANT - FLOATER - Aria Community Health Center - Hanford, CA

ACHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic. We provide medical and dental care, with additional specialists in Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychology, Podiatry and Optometry. ACHC Clinics are located across Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties. The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. EXAMPLES OF TASKS Assisting the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures with OSHA & HIPAA standards Taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays) Asking about the patient’s medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment. Helping patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment. Providing patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling). Teaching patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling). Taking impressions of patient’s teeth for study casts (models of teeth). Performing office management tasks that require the use of a personal computer Communication with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, and ordering supplies). Helping to provide direct patient care in all specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery. Travel to other clinics as needed. And other tasks as required. REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid Driver license and clear driving record. Due to insurance and regulatory requirements, applicants must be 21 or more years old. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in health-related field or customer service preferred. LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION Certificates in Infection Control and X-ray required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Coronal Polish Certification preferred.
