Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow with four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), utilizing medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners when necessary, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding. Monitor vital signs and assist with pediatric dental care by understanding pediatric-specific needs and procedures. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, following infection control protocols and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Experience with chairside assisting across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards for patient confidentiality. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to uphold clinic safety standards. Knowledge of dental assisting best practices including vital signs measurement and use of medical imaging devices like 3D scanners. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members such as dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
