Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for our patients while assisting the orthodontist in providing high-quality care. Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist during procedures, including the placement and adjustment of braces and other orthodontic appliances. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols. Take X-rays and assist with diagnostic procedures as needed. Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families on proper oral hygiene practices and care for orthodontic appliances. Manage patient flow within the office, ensuring timely appointments and effective communication with patients regarding their treatment plans. Perform administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments and coordinating patient follow-ups. Monitor vital signs when necessary, ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit. Experience Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar dental assisting role is preferred. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus, as the position may involve working with younger patients. Knowledge of infection control practices and protocols is essential. Experience with dental receptionist duties is advantageous for managing patient interactions effectively. Proficiency in using dental systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling is preferred. Understanding of various dental specialties such as Endodontics and Prosthodontics can enhance performance in this role.
