Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Operate and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical histories in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring proper technique and patient safety. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, demonstrating proficiency in anatomy knowledge and aseptic technique. Manage dental imaging equipment and assist with the use of medical imaging tools to support diagnosis and treatment planning. Provide excellent chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control standards and sterilization procedures. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist as needed. Stay current with dental terminology, medical coding practices, and updates in dental technology to ensure accurate record-keeping and billing processes. Contribute to a positive team environment by collaborating effectively with other dental professionals and staff members. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices. Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is essential for efficient documentation and workflow management. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of medical records. Hands-on experience with X-ray techniques, 3D scanners, medical imaging equipment, and sterilization protocols is required to perform duties confidently. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and dental assisting best practices is crucial for success in this role. Experience supporting specialized areas such as prosthodontics or endodontics will be considered an asset. A strong understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is desirable for working effectively with young patients.
