Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and confidence. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix to accurately document patient information, medical history, treatment notes, and medical records. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology relevant to dental care. Manage medical imaging processes using advanced tools like 3D scanners when applicable for comprehensive diagnostics. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance details, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and the importance of regular dental visits to foster ongoing oral health maintenance. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to protocols for sterilization, handling hazardous materials safely, and practicing proper aseptic techniques. Collaborate seamlessly with team members in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize workflow and enhance patient care quality. Stay current with industry best practices by participating in ongoing training related to dental terminology, new technologies, and regulatory requirements. Requirements Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing electronic health records efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Skilled in taking X-rays and operating medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners when available. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe practice. Experience supporting pediatric dentistry procedures is highly desirable along with familiarity working with pediatric patients. Ability to perform vital signs assessments and assist with chairside procedures confidently across various specialties like prosthodontics and endodontics. Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively while maintaining professionalism at all times. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment supporting four-handed dentistry practices for optimal efficiency.
