Permanent Dental Hygienist Job in San Jose, CA
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent patient care abilities, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and terminology. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and polishing to maintain optimal oral health for patients. Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations. Assist with chairside procedures such as medical imaging, documentation review, and medical coding. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Follow infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient and staff safety. Support pediatric dentistry procedures when applicable, ensuring a comfortable experience for young patients. Collaborate with dentists and other team members to deliver comprehensive dental care using four-handed dentistry techniques. Monitor patient comfort during procedures and provide appropriate patient care throughout visits. Ensure the dental operatory is prepared with necessary supplies and sterilized instruments prior to each appointment. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures. Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific patient care is preferred. Skilled in chairside assisting, including medical imaging and infection control practices. Ability to accurately assess vital signs and interpret medical records for comprehensive patient evaluation. Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, and documentation review processes. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and team collaboration. Ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
