Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe and effective treatment. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of treatments, medical records, and patient interactions in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Requirements Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with the state licensing board. Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy related to oral health. Hands-on experience with Eaglesoft for documentation review and recordkeeping a plus! Knowledge of infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and aseptic techniques to safeguard patient information and prevent cross-contamination. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and chairside assisting efficiently. Strong communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide excellent patient care while demonstrating professionalism at all times.
