Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic technique and sterilization of instruments. Review documentation for accuracy, ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, and assist with medical coding when necessary. Requirements Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical records documentation review. Skilled in chairside assisting with knowledge of anatomy and dental assisting best practices. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable. Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform medical imaging procedures. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
