Responsibilities Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health. Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and progress notes in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow infection control protocols adhering to OSHA standards, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patients and staff. Monitor and record vital signs during appointments; recognize signs of medical emergencies or abnormalities requiring further assessment. Collaborate with dentists and other team members to ensure seamless patient care delivery in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal standards; assist with medical coding for billing purposes. Uphold the highest standards of dental terminology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and infection control practices throughout daily operations. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment is required. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred. Prior experience working with pediatric patients in pediatric dentistry settings is a strong plus. Demonstrated ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting using aseptic techniques is advantageous. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes is essential. Experience in infection control procedures, medical imaging techniques, and medical coding enhances your candidacy.
