Job Overview Our small private practice is growing and we are looking to hire a hardworking and kind dental assistant or EDDA (expanded duties dental assistant). As a DA or EDDA in our office, you will support Dr. Herman and the hygienists by providing efficient chairside assistance, managing patient flow, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient comfort. Duties Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques to maintain a safe environment. Assist Dr. Herman during various procedures such as general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry with precision, compassion, and professionalism. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Open Dental to ensure accurate documentation of medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment plans. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and maintaining clear communication with patients to ensure comfort during procedures. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions clearly and positively. Support infection control protocols by adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining sterilization standards across all clinical areas. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation. Conduct routine vital signs measurements and assist with medical documentation for pediatric or medically complex patients. Support general clinic operations by maintaining cleanliness, organizing supplies, and ensuring compliance with all safety standards. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant or EDDA in the dental field is preferred Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is necessary for success in this role. Experience using EMR systems such as Open Dental is preferred, but we can train you! Competence in taking X-rays (including 3D imaging) and performing chairside assisting across various specialties like prosthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery is essential. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper handling of medical records and documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, demonstrating patience and professionalism. A solid understanding of anatomy knowledge related to oral structures enhances your ability to assist accurately during procedures.
