Responsibilities Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health. Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Perform dental cleanings and scaling procedures using appropriate tools and techniques. Administer local anesthesia as needed and monitor vital signs during procedures. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Dentrix. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records responsibly. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current credentials. Proven experience working in general dentistry settings with a strong understanding of dental terminology and anatomy knowledge. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, with experience documenting treatment plans and reviewing medical coding. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus, along with experience in dental office operations and medical imaging procedures. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and medical records management.
