Part time Dental Assistant - Vitana Pediatric and Orthodontic Partners - Mount Laurel, NJ

We are looking for a skilled, motivated, and compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our growing dental practice. The ideal candidate will work closely with our doctors and team to provide high-quality orthodontic care, assist with treatments, prepare patients, and support all aspects of orthodontic clinical operations. Required Qualifications Must be a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) , Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) , or Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) in the state of New Jersey. Must hold or be eligible for Certified Dental Radiographer license. If relocating from Philadelphia or outside NJ, and coming with Expanded-Functions dental credentials, those must be valid and compatible with NJ requirements. Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused demeanor. Key Responsibilities Work closely with patients and staff — explain treatment plans clearly and support patient comfort throughout care. Serve as an independent starter, assisting the doctor during orthodontic procedures. Perform intraoral adjustments, prepare patients for banding and bonding procedures; assist with bonding attachments for Invisalign treatments (following full Invisalign instructions). Remove braces, take dental x-rays, intraoral and extraoral photographs, use an iTero intraoral scanner, and take impressions for orthodontic appliances. Fabricate retainers and appliances such as night guards and mouthguards when required. Maintain sterilization of instruments and prepare treatment rooms between patients. Utilize practice management software (we currently use Orthotrac — training can be provided for this or alternative systems). Maintain organized, efficient workflow while upholding high standards of cleanliness, patient care, and clinical safety. Demonstrate kindness, professionalism, and effective communication with patients and colleagues.
