Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, ensuring infection control, and assisting with various dental procedures. Prior experience with Open Dental is highly valued. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining accurate medical documentation and supporting the overall efficiency of the dental clinic. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available. Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols. Manage patient records using EMR systems like OpenDental and Dexis, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency. Monitor vital signs and medical imaging as needed for patient assessments. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance. Maintain aseptic techniques and adhere to strict infection control standards to ensure patient safety. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and handling medical coding when necessary. Assist with the operation of advanced equipment including 3D scanners and other digital imaging tools. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, medical coding, and medical records management. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and team members. Certification or training in chairside assisting, dental assisting programs, or relevant certifications is highly desirable.
