Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, dietary advice, and preventive care strategies to promote lifelong dental health. Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and comfort. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow all HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Requirements Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice. Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinics with a focus on pediatric patients preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy related to oral health. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping. Strong knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care standards. Knowledge of medical coding procedures relevant to dental services for accurate billing and documentation review.
