Responsibilities Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools while adhering to infection control protocols. Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care. Maintain strict aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Educate patients on post-treatment care instructions and answer questions related to dental procedures or treatment plans. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes. Conduct medical coding when necessary for insurance claims processing and ensure accurate documentation of medical records. Assist with specialized procedures in pediatric dentistry or other advanced fields like endodontics or prosthodontics as needed. Support the use of advanced dental technology including intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools to enhance treatment planning. Uphold all safety protocols related to infection control, anatomy knowledge, and dental terminology to ensure high-quality patient care. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient rapport. Skilled in taking X-rays—including digital imaging—and understanding of medical imaging techniques relevant to dentistry. Experience supporting pediatric dentistry treatments is advantageous; familiarity with pediatric-specific equipment and procedures is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and support comprehensive patient care plans involving endodontics or prosthodontics procedures.
