Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly following aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect patients and staff. Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Support patients by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and providing pre- and post-treatment instructions to ensure comfort and understanding. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures. Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners for precise diagnostics and treatment planning. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to strict sterilization protocols and proper handling of medical imaging equipment. Collaborate with the dental team including receptionists and hygienists to coordinate scheduling, manage medical documentation, and ensure seamless patient flow. Educate patients on oral health practices using clear dental terminology to promote ongoing care outside the clinic. Assist with medical coding for billing purposes when necessary, ensuring accurate insurance claims processing. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient record management. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy at all times. Experience with dental radiography (X-ray) techniques and safety procedures. Familiarity with dental terminology related to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and basic medical documentation accurately. Skilled in chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry methods for enhanced procedure flow. Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Competence in operating dental imaging tools like 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics. Experience working with pediatric patients in a pediatric dentistry setting is highly desirable. Ability to navigate dental software such as Epic or similar platforms for medical records management.
