Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Periodontal therapies. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental status to inform treatment plans. Take medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments and ensuring a sterile environment in accordance with OSHA standards. Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatment sessions. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including medical coding for billing purposes when necessary. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or general dentistry setting. Knowledge of digital dentistry. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to accurately perform medical imaging procedures while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and data security.
