Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, perform comprehensive dental hygiene services, and support the overall efficiency of our dental team. This role requires a strong knowledge of dental procedures, infection control, and patient assessment, with a focus on delivering comfortable and effective oral health care in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems and dental office software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix is highly preferred. The Registered Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of hygiene, patient safety, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Duties Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Take and record vital signs, medical history, and assess patient health status prior to treatment. Conduct patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Assist with medical imaging procedures including X-rays while ensuring proper aseptic technique. Document treatment procedures accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Support pediatric dentistry procedures with specialized care tailored for children and adolescents. Collaborate with dentists during four-handed dentistry procedures to improve efficiency and patient comfort. Maintain infection control standards by sterilizing instruments and ensuring a sterile environment. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist in medical coding for billing purposes when necessary. Uphold HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient information at all times. Provide chairside assisting during various dental procedures as needed. Qualifications Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Proven experience in general dentistry; experience in pediatric dentistry or working with EMR systems like Open Dental. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics. Familiarity with medical records management, documentation review, and medical coding procedures. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
