Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans. Assist in chairside procedures by preparing instruments, ensuring aseptic technique, and providing support during treatments. Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their oral health outcomes. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and dental office standards. Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing medical waste, and ensuring a sterile environment. Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation, scheduling, and billing processes. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless delivery of general dentistry services with a focus on pediatric dentistry when applicable. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or office setting with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding. Strong knowledge of anatomy, infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and dental assisting practices such as four-handed dentistry. Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable to effectively care for young patients. Proficiency with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records efficiently. Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, patient assessment, and documentation review accurately. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical records. Excellent communication skills to educate patients about treatment options and promote ongoing oral health maintenance.
