Description of Work Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a full-time Dental Hygienist position This is technical dental work in examining, cleaning, and instructing on the general care of the teeth. The dental hygienist may perform the following duties under the general supervision of a licensed dentist: Examine teeth of patients and make referrals to dentist if special professional care is indicated, Applies topical fluorides and performs dental prophylaxis in the prevention of dental disease Records findings and maintains records on dental status and services rendered to patients, Instructs patients on the proper care of teeth and recommends measures for the prevention of dental disease, assists the dentist in planning and carrying out dental health programs; or may function in a role as a dental hygienist consultant/analyst. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $58,898.00 - $88,348.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Considerable knowledge in the application of the techniques and practices of dental hygiene. Ability to secure the cooperation of the patient and to elicit required information. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and to interpret and maintain records and reports. Ability to deal tactfully with the public and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions Ability to work with other professional and support personnel in the performance of duties typical of the dental hygienist and assisting with other duties which may be of a lesser complexity. Management Preferences (if applicable) 1 yr experience working as a Dental Hygienist Conditional Requirements: Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation. This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126) The normal work schedule is Monday to Thursday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch break. However, flexibility is required for educational purposes and to meet hospital needs. About the Facility: Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
