Duties Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup. Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions. Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow. Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Follow HIPAA guidelines diligently to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Support pediatric dentistry cases by creating a comfortable environment for young patients and applying specialized pediatric techniques. Ensure aseptic technique during all procedures to prevent infection and promote safety within the clinic. Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding as needed, and assist with medical records management. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances efficiency in documentation review and record keeping. Experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting during various procedures is advantageous. Knowledge of medical imaging techniques, vital signs monitoring, and patient care protocols is highly desirable. Prior exposure to pediatric dentistry environments will be considered a plus for working effectively with young patients. Certification as a licensed Dental Hygienist according to state regulations is required; ongoing education in infection control and medical coding is beneficial.
