Dental Hygienist - Part-Time/Per Diem Location: Madison, CT We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and flexible Dental Hygienist to join our busy, fast-paced dental practice. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care and perform thorough dental cleanings within a high-volume, collaborative environment. This role offers Part-Time and Per Diem scheduling options and requires a professional committed to utilizing advanced dental technology and adhering to the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Compensation and Schedule Schedule: This position offers flexible scheduling, available as Part-Time or Per Diem. Compensation: Pay is competitive and will be commensurate with experience and technical expertise. Key Duties Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Conduct patient assessments by recording vital signs and reviewing medical history in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Capture and interpret medical imaging, including X-rays, ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities within EMR systems and review medical records for completeness. Ensure aseptic technique is upheld during all clinical procedures to prevent infection transmission. Support general dentistry services with knowledge of anatomy, dental terminology, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping. Adhere to all infection control policies, including sterilization procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Qualifications Valid Dental Hygienist license in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience working in a dental office or clinic setting. Mandatory Proficiency: Strong proficiency with Dentrix is required; experience with EMR systems is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and efficiency in a busy, fast-paced clinical environment. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical imaging, vital signs, and documentation review processes. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dental hygiene practice. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations, including pediatrics. Ability to work efficiently within a team environment. Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality. Prior experience with pediatric dentistry, dental assisting, or general dentistry is highly desirable.
