The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist with clinical procedures that includes exposing and processing x-rays, taking alginate impressions, and screening emergency patients. The employee will be expected to assist in four-handed dental procedures including but not limited to: initial exams, periodontal maintenance, amalgam and composite restorations, endodontics, oral surgery, crown and bridge work, and removable prosthodontics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS, & FUNCTIONS · Chart oral conditions as dictated by dental providers. · Obtain, interpret, and evaluate personal, medical and dental histories for all patients. · Identify patientsâ needs using appropriate forms of communication. · Prepare and assist with the administration of local anesthesia. · Prepare the handpieces for laboratory and operatory use. · Prepare the mounting and articulation of study models for providers & patients review. · Prepare and assist with various restorations, applications, procedures, and impressions. · Perform all other duties as assigned. KEY COMPETENCIES & ABILITIES · Knowledge of all dental specialties, terminology, and procedures used. · Ability to practice patient and operative safety measures during radiation. · Knowledge of all clinical proficiency in selection and transfer of instruments in operative dentistry. · Maintains all dental equipment and supplies, personal safety and hygiene, and proper infection control protocol in compliance with CDC and OSHA regulations & guidelines. · Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients. · Should be a critical thinker, detail-oriented, and a self-starter while taking initiative. · Ability to proficiently use the AED machine. EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS · Graduate from a Dental Assistant Program. · Current CPR/Basic Life Support Certification upon hire or willing to obtain & renew as needed.
