Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our compassionate dental team. The ideal candidate will support pediatric patients through chairside assistance, patient education, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment. Experience with dental software systems is preferred, along with a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols. The Pediatric Dental Assistant will work closely with dentists and hygienists to deliver comprehensive pediatric dentistry services. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments following aseptic techniques and infection control standards Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring patient safety and comfort Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices tailored for children and their parents Manage medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations Assist with dental imaging procedures and maintain accurate medical records and coding Support the dental team in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment Handle administrative duties as needed, including dental receptionist tasks such as scheduling appointments and updating patient information Qualifications Proven experience in dental assisting, preferably within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings highly preferred. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively while adhering to radiation safety standards Familiarity with medical imaging technologies including 3D scanners is a plus Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and data security Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members Certification in dental assisting or related credentials preferred; ongoing training in pediatric dentistry is advantageous Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail This position is essential for delivering high-quality pediatric dental care that ensures the comfort and well-being of our young patients.
