Responsibilities Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, and periodontal maintenance in accordance with clinical guidelines. Conduct thorough oral assessments, periodontal charting, and risk evaluations to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Take and interpret high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging while ensuring patient safety and adherence to radiation protocols. Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, periodontal disease management, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health. Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride varnish and sealants as permitted by state regulations. Accurately document clinical findings, treatment rendered, and patient education in EMR systems such as Open Dental. Monitor patient comfort, take and record vital signs, and manage patients with special needs or pediatric patients with a gentle, reassuring approach. Maintain strict infection control standards by following OSHA, HIPAA, and aseptic technique protocols. Collaborate closely with dentists and dental assistants to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. Assist in identifying periodontal or oral health concerns and communicate findings effectively to the dentist. Utilize advanced dental technologies such as digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, and 3D imaging tools when applicable. Requirements Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing. Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dental practice preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for accurate clinical documentation. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and OSHA guidelines. Ability to safely operate radiographic equipment; current radiography certification required. Excellent understanding of dental anatomy, periodontal disease, and preventive care techniques. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and engage patients of all ages. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment while maintaining attention to detail and patient comfort. Familiarity with digital dentistry tools and advanced imaging technology is a plus.
