Overview We are looking for an orthodontic assistant to work in our Jacksonville office part time. Our Jacksonville location is open two to three days a week on a rotating basis. If you are interested in working full-time hours, we can offer a couple days a week in Springfield. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of orthodontic practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. We offer on-the-job training and encourage anyone who has experience in the healthcare field to apply. Responsibilities Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow. Remove and replace arch wires, fit and seat bands, fit and seat appliances, etc. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring it is clean and organized. Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment; sterilize instruments. Take X-rays, photos and scans as needed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Manage patient records using Ortho2 Edge or similar software. Collaborate with the dental team to provide high-quality patient care. Skills Efficient, follows directions, friendly and positive, confident, team player, problem solver Knowledge of aseptic techniques and their application in a dental setting. Familiarity with anatomy relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry. Experience working in a dental clinic environment or other health care facility. Understanding of prosthodontics principles is advantageous. Proficiency in using Ortho2 Edge software or something similar. Strong background in dental assisting practices, including patient management and chairside assistance. Experience with X-ray procedures and safety measures. Starting pay based on experience.
