Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all dental equipment is ready for procedures. Assist dentist during exams and treatments by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort through four-handed dentistry techniques. Take digital dental X-rays, including digital imaging adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Practiceworks and paper charting (SOAP notes) ensuring accurate documentation of medical history and treatment plans. Monitor vital signs and assess patient readiness for procedures while maintaining a calm and reassuring presence for patients. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote ongoing health. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) with current licensure in good standing. Proven experience in general dentistry. Proficiency with dental software. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy, dental terminology, and medical terminology. Ability to operate dental radiography equipment including digital X-rays and Panos. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques such as vital signs measurement, composites, Crown preps, Crown deliveries and palliative treatments. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental teamâincluding dental receptionistsâand provide exceptional patient care.
