Overview We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our compassionate dental team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric dentistry and be proficient in dental assisting procedures, patient care, and dental software systems. The Pediatric Dental Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, delivering quality patient experiences, and supporting the clinical team with various procedures. Duties Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures, including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques. Record vital signs and medical history, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Educate patients and parents on dental procedures, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care using appropriate dental terminology. Manage patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments and updating medical documentation while respecting HIPAA regulations. Assist with medical imaging procedures and ensure proper handling of medical records and documentation. Support administrative tasks such as checking in patients as a dental receptionist when needed. Maintain infection control standards and ensure all clinical areas are clean and organized according to OSHA guidelines. Collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive pediatric dentistry services, including endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures. Requirements Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a pediatric or general dentistry setting. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and accurately; certification in radiography preferred. Familiarity with medical imaging technology including 3D scanners is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to pediatrics. Experience with chairside assisting in pediatric dentistry, including four-handed dentistry techniques. Ability to take vital signs accurately and understand medical documentation requirements for pediatrics. Excellent communication skills to educate young patients and their families effectively. Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred; ongoing professional development in pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
