Job Overview Join our team as a Pediatric Dental Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a positive, comfortable experience for young patients and their families. In this vital role, you will support the delivery of exceptional dental care by assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient comfort, and ensuring the clinic operates smoothly. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments, supplies, and materials for pediatric dental procedures. Assist dentists during examinations and treatments, including chairside support for procedures such as X-ray imaging, cavity fillings, and sealants. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs of pediatric patients before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and comfort. Maintain accurate medical documentation and dental records using EMR systems like Curve Hero while adhering to HIPAA standards. Educate young patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Follow infection control protocols including aseptic technique, sterilization procedures, and proper handling of medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners. Support general dentistry services with proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to pediatric dentistry. Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on pediatric dentistry or general dentistry preferred. Familiarity with Curve EMR systems * Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a clinical setting. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation standards related to pediatrics. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate children and their families about oral health care. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent credential required; additional certifications in radiography or pediatric dentistry are a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment supporting four-handed dentistry techniques while maintaining high standards of patient care.
