Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment, adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, providing chairside support with precision. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, accurately documenting treatment details and medical history. Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric or sensitive cases. Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and assisting the dental receptionist with medical documentation and medical coding. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in dental software systems including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA compliance standards, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort; certification in radiography is preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to dentistry, and familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices. Experience with chairside assisting in various specialties such as prosthodontics or endodontics is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages; experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
