Permanent Dental Assistant Job in Las Vegas, NV

JPosition Summary The Dental Assistant supports the dental team by preparing treatment rooms, assisting the dentist during procedures, sterilizing and organizing instruments, and ensuring compliance with infection control protocols. This position plays a critical role in delivering quality patient care, maintaining a clean and safe clinical environment, and providing excellent customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities o Patient Care o Greet and prepare patients for dental treatment. o Explain procedures and provide pre- and post-operative instructions. o Assist the dentist chairside during examinations and treatments. o Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times. o Clinical Support o Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials for procedures. o Maintain strict compliance with infection control and sterilization protocols. o Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with regulations. o Record patient information and treatment details in the dental chart or software. o Instrument Processing o Pre-clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize reusable instruments following established procedures. o Store sterile items in designated clean storage areas. o Monitor and document sterilization cycles, maintenance, and biological indicator testing. o Equipment Maintenance o Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance on dental equipment. o Notify supervisor or dentist of any equipment malfunctions. o Administrative Support o Manage inventory and restock clinical supplies as needed. o Assist with appointment scheduling and patient records as directed. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities o Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments. o Understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, and CDC infection control standards. o Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain attention to detail. o Strong interpersonal and communication skills. o Basic computer skills and familiarity with dental practice software. o Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Education and Experience Requirements o High school diploma or equivalent. o Graduation from an accredited dental assisting program preferred. o Current Radiology Certification and/or CPR Certification (as required by state law). o At least 1 year of dental assisting experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate. Physical Requirements o Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. o Manual dexterity to operate dental instruments and equipment. o Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Work Environment o Fast-paced dental clinic setting. o Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and other hazards; proper PPE is provided.
