Dental Hygiene Assistant - Bonney Road Dental - Virginia Beach, VA

We are a small, patient-focused private dental practice in Virginia Beach seeking a Dental Hygiene Assistant to support our doctors by seeing hygiene patients. This role is ideal for someone who truly enjoys working with patients, has excellent bedside manner, and takes pride in being thorough and detail-oriented. This position involves assisting with hygiene-focused appointments under the direction of the doctor, including patient care, charting, taking x-rays, taking pictures, treatment planning and polishing. Responsibilities: Provide chairside support during hygiene-focused appointments for the doctor Perform thorough dental charting and clinical notes Polish teeth to hygienist-level standards and ensure patient comfort throughout the visit Take and review dental X-rays as needed Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-visit care Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked operatory Follow all infection control and sterilization protocols Work closely with the doctor and team to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care Qualifications: Previous experience as a dental assistant (required) Comfortable working in hygiene-focused appointments Strong knowledge of dental charting and clinical documentation Excellent polishing skills Personable, calm, and confident chairside manner Detail-oriented and takes pride in doing things thoroughly Strong communication and teamwork skills What We’re Looking For: Someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with patients A team player who values quality care over rushing Professional, reliable, and eager to contribute to a positive practice culture What We Offer: Supportive, team-oriented work environment Consistent schedule Competitive pay based on experience Opportunity to work closely with doctors and expand clinical skills Experience working in hygiene setting which may prove to be useful if applicant is considering hygiene school.
