Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control protocols. Take and develop X-ray images, utilizing advanced equipment such as 3D scanners when needed, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage medical records and documentation using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy in medical coding and record-keeping. Perform chairside assisting with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and providing support during four-handed dentistry practices. Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is required, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and dental terminology is essential. Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable; knowledge of Epic or other medical documentation systems is a plus. Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry and pediatrics enhances communication with patients and team members. Demonstrated ability to perform X-ray imaging accurately and safely using modern equipment like 3D scanners or traditional radiography tools. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records, medical coding, and documentation compliance under HIPAA guidelines.
