Orthodontic Dental Assistant Location Albuquerque Indian Dental Clinic 9169 Coors Blvd NW Albuquerque, NM 87120 Pay $32 per hour Schedule Part time 27 hours per week Monday through Friday Hours between 7:30 am and 12:30 pm, 1:15 pm to 5:30 pm No overtime Federal holidays observed No annual or sick leave accrual Period of Performance ASAP for one year contract with 4 (1) year options. Position Overview You provide part time orthodontic support services at the Albuquerque Indian Dental Clinic. You support orthodontists, patients, and clinic operations in a fast paced federal healthcare setting. Clinical Duties Document care in the electronic health record after each visit Prepare patients and operatories for orthodontic procedures Perform routine orthodontic assisting and adjustments Obtain and process orthodontic records, photos, impressions, and models Take and process intraoral and extraoral radiographs Assist with appliance delivery including Forsus, Herbst, headgear, expanders, and retainers Perform banding, debonding, and fixed retainer preparation Fabricate Essix, Hawley, and circumferential retainers Perform wire bending and appliance repair Support orthodontic case presentations for patients and families Provide patient education on oral hygiene and appliance care Follow infection control and sterilization standards Maintain dental equipment and operatory readiness Laboratory and Sterilization Duties Complete lab work per orthodontist instructions Clean, package, and sterilize instruments Operate orthodontic lab equipment Trim study models for case presentations Administrative and Cross Training Duties Document procedures accurately Support supply inventory and requisitions Assist with patient flow and issue resolution Support front desk operations when needed Maintain reports tied to clinic activity Perform other assigned duties to keep clinic operations running Qualifications Graduation from a dental assistant training program or documented on the job training Current BLS certification Work Environment Federal outpatient dental clinic Team based setting Patient focused care supporting American Indian and Alaska Native communities Qualified candidates ready for consistent part time work in a federal dental clinic setting are encouraged to apply.
